Today is International Podcast Day and there are lots of lots of stories around podcasts in Spanish-speaking media! This is very exciting and great for the industry but certainly not the best for a newsletter.
This edition will focus only on stories not related to this day´s celebrations. Later you will receive another one with the most important stories around International Podcast Day.
The most important Latino-podcasting news of the week
The famous Argentinian podcast which is one of the most listened in Spotify in the South American country, “El Método Rebord”, left the platform because they claim they are not being paid and moved to YouTube for economic reasons: "There they do recognize our work."
Almost 30,000 people filled up Madrid´s biggest sports arena last week to see the hosts of "Estirando el Chile" perform live. Once upon a time mainstream media didn´t have a place for them, so Carolina and Victoria launched their podcast, which is now the top podcast in Spain.
After filling up their live event, Carolina Iglesias says El CaroLate is almost ready. It will be a Spotify Original in collaboration with PRISA Audio that will explore new avenues in podcasting. It is "an experiment", she says, designed to be broadcasted on video, close to a late-night television show. It adopts "a more frenetic pace than normal" with a structure that is constantly changing. Each episode will have monologues, interviews, and segments with collaborators.
Newspaper Publimetro published that podcast consumption on Spotify has experienced a growth of 106 percent in Spain during the last year, a figure that reinforces the rise of this format on the platform and in the country.
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Deutsch LA re-enters the world of podcasts with the launch of “Somos Advertising”, created by its Latino employee resource group, Teyquirisi. The new podcast hopes to inform and inspire young Latinos in the advertising industry.
